7 challenges of the CMO

Our generation of marketeers will be the ones coping with quite some big challenges. With technology not being a barrier anymore to create outstanding customer experiences, we’re back to basics: being remarkable, solving true customer problems, changing our organisations to be flexible for the future and -above all- to be truly about our customers and to prove to both our customers and CEOs that marketeers are to be trusted.

About the conference

On ‘What’s Next for CMO’s?’ CMO Cafe

Sitecore and Macaw joined forces for this CMO Cafe, a true café and discussion on what the trends and goals are for the CMO in 2019.

Other speakers included Harry Boers (Digital Strategist, Macaw), Peter Roling (Strategy Consultant, Macaw), Jannik Devantier (Head of Value Engineering EMEA, Sitecore) and Pim van Leeuwen (Business Unit Manager Digital, Macaw).

I truly enjoyed the mix of speakers at this well-put-together gettogether. Harry, Peter and me opening up the conference, with Jannik presenting a really interesting and well-needed business-case perspective on customer experience. Pim topping things off with a business case.

7 challenges of the CMO

Marketeers are the bringers of change, the agents that will shape authentic culture. They are the members of a company that are closest to the customer, who are the most important part of any organisation. Moreover they have both the skills, and the influence to make it happen.

As said above, our generation of marketeers will be the ones coping with quite some big challenges. With technology not being a barrier anymore to create outstanding customer experiences, we’re back to basics: being remarkable, solving true customer problems, changing our organisations to be flexible for the future and -above all- to be truly about our customers and to prove to both our customers and CEOs that marketeers are to be trusted.
