Kudos: streetcred biaatch!

Nog nooit had ik me verdiept in de etymologie van Kudos, een must-have voor het vocabulaire van Sugababes en Sugadudes, grote groepen jongeren, maar ook van GeenStijl, maar dat het afkomstig is uit het Grieks was wel het laatste dat in me opkwam:

Kudos (IPA pronunciation: [‘kju:d?s][‘ku:d?s]), from the Greek ????? kydos (literally “that which is heard of”) means fame and renown resulting from an act or achievement; by extension is often used as a praising remark. It entered English as British university slang in the early 1800s. Frequently used by Time magazine, it came to Africa in the 1920s and 1930s.

Hi, my name is Polle de Maagt. I challenge organizations to be less about ads and more about acts. For years, I’ve helped brands like KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Rituals Nike, LEGO and IKEA rethink customer relationships; not through more marketing, but through meaningful experiences. Drawing from design thinking, agile, and service design, I focus on making real change happen.
