What they did.
In a store in Taipei, next to a photo booth, a painted line on the floor reads: Boyfriend waiting line. That is all. No seat, no screen, no loyalty programme. Just a place to stand, with a wink.
Why it works.
Most shops design for the person with the wallet. But people rarely shop alone, and the one who came along is often the one who decides when it is time to go. This line admits that he is there, makes waiting a joke instead of an annoyance, and costs next to nothing.
It is also a photo waiting to happen. I took one.
Try it yourself.
Who comes along with your customer, and what do you do for them? The partner in the shoe shop, the kid at the bank, the colleague in the sales meeting. Give them one small thing: a place, a line, a joke.
who came
along?
Walk your own customer journey as the person who came along. Where do they stand, and what do they do while they wait?
