“Don’t trust your teachers. Don’t trust me. Listen to what your grandma told you.” for Fontys

My old “university”, Fontys, launched a master ‘International Lifestyle Studies’ last year, which is pretty much about consumer insighting and trends. It must be the coolest master ever and I wish they had it when I was a young student.

Within that curriculum, I got to do a presentation on social media. It talks about how some things have never changed (you trust your peers, customer retention is more important than customer acquisition, etc.) en how technology is the driver for other changes. I tried to summarize things in an “extremely un-nuanced overview of old versus new marketing“.

Hi, my name is Polle de Maagt. I challenge organizations to be less about ads and more about acts. For years, I’ve helped brands like KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Rituals Nike, LEGO and IKEA rethink customer relationships; not through more marketing, but through meaningful experiences. Drawing from design thinking, agile, and service design, I focus on making real change happen.
