404: Involver proves they are all about social

Which so much information available online, outdated and permanently moved web pages are increasingly cluttering search engine results (and your old notes); digital link rot is more common than you think. Just to give you an idea, 50% of the URLs in the U.S. Supreme Court’s opinions no longer link to the original information, the average lifespan of a web page is 100 days and Pinboard reported a rate of about 5% link rot (disappearance) per year. This rot, this sh*t happens - but how you deal with it as an organization, how you deal with it as an individual is what sets the great apart from the not so great.

Because there are just too many horrible 404 messages. I have been fighting to get rid of unremarkable out-of-office replies404 errors and other auto replies since 2010. To help, I’ve collected some great positive exceptions, starting with the one below. Let’s turn automatic into automagic.

Involver 404

Involver is a company that provides off-the-shelf apps for facebook and other social platforms. They believe strongly in tapping into social streams and implementing social sharing. And the proof is in their in their 404 page. Even that has a social node.
