A shipping mail with a story.

Your order shows up on a big screen in the office lounge in Zurich, next to the gramophone and the leather sofas. They raise a glass to your choice, and let you know they are about to ship it.

Hey there,

In our comfy Freitag office-lounge, our beloved gramophone stands beside the heavy leather sofas, where we sit and try to look intelligent, and right next to them sits our 70-inch news-ticker screen. The arrival of your order was just displayed on it in amazing ultra-HD quality. We've had a look at your order and want to raise our glasses in homage to your excellent choice.

Now, we're just enjoying the last sip of our dry martinis to the sound of "Papa's got a brand new bag" and are about to arrange all the necessary elements for shipping your order.

As soon as the paperwork is ready and your product has been shipped to you, we will let you know by email.

Until then, we send you debonair greetings and many thanks.

Your Freitag auto-reply service in Zurich.

Why it works.

Everybody sends a shipping mail. Freitag made it sound like their bags: a bit rough, a bit cheeky, and unmistakably theirs.

The series

Automagic: nine automated mails done right.

  1. An order mail that knows it is software.
  2. A shipping mail with a story.
  3. A person, the day after you sign up.
  4. A newsletter that unsubscribes you.
  5. An autoreply that manages expectations.
  6. An autoresponder that says no, kindly.
  7. A personal assistant that asks first.
  8. A cold sales mail with a bet.
  9. A no that still sounds like a yes.
