Think different

TBWA/Chiat/Day ontwikkelde voor Apple een van de meest bekende commercials ooit, die ook navolging kreeg in print.

De commercial toont zwart-wit beelden van historische figuren uit heden en verleden. Achtereenvolgens Albert Einstein, Bob Dylan, Martin Luther King, Jr., Richard Branson, John Lennon, R. Buckminster Fuller, Thomas Edison, Muhammad Ali, Ted Turner, Maria Callas, Mahatma Gandhi, Amelia Earhart, Alfred Hitchcock, Martha Graham, Jim Henson (met Kermit de kikker), Frank Lloyd Wright en Picasso. De commercial eindigt met een klein meisje, dat haar ogen opent.
De gesproken tekst loopt net uit de pas met de foto’s, waardoor tekst en beeld een geheel vormen.

Geweldig, inspirerend en fantastisch en een van mijn meest favoriete commercials ooit.

Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?

Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written?

Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

We make tools for these kinds of people.
While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Because the people who are crazy enough to think that they can
